Corduroy Media Update...4/25/06

Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, a revolution will materialize if we work for it. We felt this ebb and flow this month after beginning video production for Kimiko Fisika and Consol Energy. Both projects have been put on temporary hold while production scripts are being finalized. This has been a blessing in disguise, giving me the time to totally redesign the Corduroy Media web site, adding new documentary and education sections. You can check out these and our other new projects by reading our newsletter below.

Documentary Film

We are very excited to be participating in the UC Berkeley School of Social Welfare's 1st. Annual International Documentary Film Series. This event will include 2 other Bay Area filmmakers that are producing international social issue documentaries. Each filmmaker will screen a trailer or short of their documentary and then participate in a panel discussion on issues surrounding the production of social issue documentary outside of the US.

We will be selling Punto de Vista and Corduroy Media T-shirts to continue our fundraising efforts for Punto de Vista, which will begin production in Colombia in early September.

Please come out and participate in revolutionary media by supporting independent film that educates, uplifts and unites communities across the globe!

Video Production

Kimiko Fisika

A new and innovative start-up clothing company approached us to produce a branding video designed to ignite a web-based viral marketing campaign. This campaign is designed to give this young company exposure that is usually reserved for entrenched corporations. We are currently in pre-production and hope to have the project complete by early June.

Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts

Partnering with Juan Fuentes and Mission Graphica, we are producing a screen-printing instructional video. Screen-printing is a dynamic medium that is used in clothing design, social movements and art. This video takes the viewer through the process of creating unique screen-printed T-shirts. We are currently in post-production and will have this DVD for sale by the end of May.

Damond Moodie

An Oakland based singer/song-writer, he calls his music alternative soul. With poetic eloquence and emotive intensity, Damond Moodie attempts to uplift, commiserate and serenade a damaged world. We are currently in pre-production of a music video for his politically charged Hallo America Ween (Let's Roll). Consol Energy

We have been hired by energy consultant Frank Di Massa to produce several video components for Consol's web-based training program. This project utilizes the web to train Consol staff on the proper techniques to conduct environmentally friendly title 24 inspections, reducing in home energy use by 15% on new residential units. This project is currently in production.

This is a very important part of what we do at Corduroy Media. We believe in the power of media to uplift and unite societies, empowering individuals and entire communities with tools to de-code media messages and produce their own.
