production

The most vital ingredient to a successful project is thorough planning. We meet with each client and map-out a project concept and proposal addressing the key elements necessary for the projects success. During this pre-production planning period we address the following areas:

Goal - What is your goal for the project? ( ie. fundraising, promotion, etc. )
Message - What information do you want your audience to walk away with?
Audience - Who is your primary audience? (ie. funders, prospective clients)
Venue/format - How will people see your film or video? (ie. web-site, DVD)

After these primary questions are answered we are able to focus on style, content, timeline, budget, logistics etc. We can’t arrive at our goal if we have no idea where it lies. Although we always begin with a very clear idea of the look, feel, and effect of our final cut, we allow room for projects to grow, change, and develop organically.

Next we are ready to begin production or principal photography. After answering the above questions we have determined the style, length, and content of the project. We continue with photography following the shot list and timeline established in pre-production. Depending on the project, photography can take anywhere from one evening to several years. This makes it necessary to have a very clear pre-production outline, including project budget, logistics and shooting schedule.

Providing a full range of post production services we are able to take our projects from concept to final cut, and because we offer these services in-house we are able to keep our services affordable.

Editing -
Whether we produced your project or not, we provide both supervised and un-supervised editing. During a supervised edit the client works side by side with the editor to cut the film specifically following an EDL, or edit decision list. An un-supervised edit starts with a client interview to determine their goals for the project. This includes length, pace, flavor, and content. When doing a full production, we edit a rough cut and then invite the client to participate in an edit session to finalize the project.

Motion graphics -
We use motion graphics in our final projects to provide for dynamic intros, titling, and effects. These are also used for artist installations and multi-media productions.

DVD authoring -
We offer full DVD authoring capabilities from component and video design, to menu interface design. We build and format each DVD production specific to the needs and style of each individual client and project.
