Exploring Creativity in a Time of Crisis

Like many in the SF Bay Area, we are on day one of a shelter in place order. As the new reality sinks in and many of our thoughts turn to "what's next", we wanted to send out a message to our fantastic creative community with some suggestions to keep the creative juices flowing.  As a San Francisco Bay Area video production company and creative agency, There are a lot of ways we can create compelling content over the next few weeks from animation to stock to livestream to virtual demos... Below are some great virtual documentary approaches that are entertaining, timely,  and relevant.

Please know that we are here to support, brainstorm, problem-solve and explore. Reach out anytime!

A Message from Quarantined Italians 10 Days Ago

It is believed nations like the US, England, France, Spain and Germany are about 9-10 days behind Italy in the COVID19 progression. This Milan based film collective asked people from all around Italy to record a message to the themselves 10 days prior.

This is a simple and creative approach to really compelling, timely and creative story-telling. With the inability to go out and film, this group of creatives captured unique content and edited it together in a compelling narrative.

New York Times: Diary of a Song

How Lizzo Made "Juice" as Joyous as She Is

This is an incredible example of creating rich documentary content remotely. The New York Times has been a leader in digital content over the last several years and this is another great example of creating a great story within creative and logistical constraints. Using remote, or virtual, interviews, animation and archival material this seven minute documentary chronicles the making of a hit from an unconventional and unapologetic artist.

"Shelter in Place"

A New Documentary Exploration With Corduroy Media

Taking inspiration from these great examples above, we have decided to explore our own documentary project, focusing on... well... right now. We've all heard people say these are unprecedented times ... so what better time to explore creative storytelling. We will be virtually interviewing friends, colleagues and creatives all over the bay about their experience of sheltering in place. We will also ask each individual to record a video diary over the next 3 weeks. Then through the powers of post-production we will stitch together a  narrative that chronicles personal experience during this trying time.

If your interested in participating please reach out and let us know at: studio@corduroymedia.com. Write in the subject line "Shelter in Place".
